Known for his bold use of color and for being a founder of the Fauvist movement, Matisse didn't actually plan to become a painter, but a lawyer. He passed the bar exam and only started painting when, bed-ridden with appendicitis, his mother gave him some art supplies to keep him busy. Matisse said, "From the moment I held the box of colors in my hands, I knew this was my life. I threw myself into it like a beast that plunges towards the thing it loves."
Join us in painting his fun "Cat with Red Fish" painting. We'll take you step by step through the work so you'll have your own reproduction of this masterpiece by the end of the two hours.
