Sophie Farwell is a PNW based artist who has had a lifelong love and appreciation for the arts. Originally from Northern California, she moved to Seattle after completing her BFA studies of Animation and VFX from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Even though she was initially drawn to the art of cartooning and animation, from an early age she realized the importance of a strong, well rounded art education and how every medium can lend skills and techniques to one another and thus set out to learn as much about all forms of art that surrounded her as possible. Being from a family of artists, she has had the opportunities to try her hand at a multitude of mediums from painting, carving, glasswork (stained and blown) and more but will always hold a deep, personal fondness for animation and sequential art.
She has participated in a wide range of projects including calligraphy, film storyboarding, historic mural refurbishing and has overseen creative projects from initial conception to completion for clients such as Disney and the Canadian government. Nothing, however, is more rewarding to Sophie than teaching what she has learned about art through the years to young, eager artists. While art may be her passion, her joy comes from teaching and even learning from young, talented artists just starting their journey into the world of art."
