OPEN POSITION:
Pottery Instructor (part-time)
Location: Issaquah, WA (in person)
Wheel Instruction Opportunities:
CAMPS
We offer Pottery camps for ages 5-13 on select dates during the school year and every Friday throughout the summer. Students split their time working on a hand-building project with a dedicated group instructor and on the wheel, 1:1 with a separate wheel instructor. The wheel instructor begins each day with demo of the basic steps of throwing to the full class, then students are placed in smaller groups as they each work 1:1 with the wheel instructor.
Teaching schedule: Fridays, 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM and/or 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
PRIVATE POTTERY WHEEL LESSONS
We offer 90-minute private pottery lessons to students (kids and adults), providing them with an opportunity to work 1:1 with an instructor at a pace that’s just right for them. They typically start off with an introductory lesson that covers the basics of throwing (wedge, center, open, pull, form, trim) then add a series of follow-up, customized lessons to dive deeper into the things they’re most interested in—creating a variety of form types, exploring surface designs, experimenting with glazes, etc.
Teaching schedule: Flexible. Highest demand for lessons are weekday evenings, Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings.
Curriculum is provided--customization by instructors is optional and encouraged, if desired.
Qualifying candidates will possess the following:
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and proven ability. Paid sick leave.
A note to experienced, well-qualified instructors:
We strive to continue building a team of high-quality educators. Let us know the rate you feel is fair and reasonable for you, we'll pull together a package that can't be beat!
