project objectives --  Redmond week 01 painting and drawing camps

Want to learn more about the awesome art created by our campers this week? See below for a full list of the projects (and their objectives) created during week one of camp.

Grid Painting
Objective: Demonstrate understanding of the grid method by utilizing a grid to recreate an image.

Fruit Cross-Section
Objective: Demonstrate the ability to create textures, highlights, and shadows through various applications with paints. 

​Acrylic Sky Painting
Objective: Demonstrate different sky types by using acrylic paints, color schemes and varying brushstrokes.

Positive and Negative Space Drawing
Objective: Demonstrate an understanding of space by coloring and/or shading the negative space instead of the positive. Students also discussed what makes an effective and well-developed composition.

Chibi Character
Objective: Demonstrate and understanding of  cartooning techniques by creating a chibi character.

Master Study of Georgia O’Keeffe
Objective: Demonstrate understanding of specific techniques by recreating one of O’Keeffe’s famous pieces. Students should demonstrate a dynamic composition and show how to effectively blend oil and/or chalk pastels.

Travel Sketch: “Plein Air” Drawing
Objective: Demonstrate understanding of  the fundamental elements of landscape drawing by creating a plein air drawing. 

Stained Glass Mandala
Objective: Demonstrate radial symmetry and symbolism by creating a "stained glass" mandala.

Foreshortening
Objective: Create a foreshortened drawing by focusing on perspective.

Positive and Negative Space Drawing
