Techniques and Media in Painting
Painting stands out as a foundational skill in the artistic journey, offering both a means of expression and a tool for academic and professional growth. Our Painting Camp introduces campers to a variety of painting mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and mixed media. This varied exposure helps students understand and appreciate different painting techniques and styles.

Fundamentals and Skill Building
The focus of our Painting Camp is on mastering proper painting techniques and applications unique to each medium. From the basics of brush handling to the intricacies of mixing paints, we cover everything. We even delve into the essentials of brush care, emphasizing the importance of maintaining tools for lasting use and better painting quality.

Color Theory: The Artist’s Palette
Color theory plays a pivotal role in painting. It guides artists in creating and applying colors effectively, whether mixing a specific shade or choosing colors for a composition. We explore how complementary and analogous colors can enhance a painting, and delve into the concepts of tints and shades. For example, our campers learn to create monochromatic paintings, understanding how to manipulate a single color to achieve varied effects.

Applying Skills: From Canvas to Creativity
One highlight of our camp is the van Gogh-inspired landscape project. Students start with a simple landscape, then experiment with different brushstrokes and colors, drawing inspiration from van Gogh’s techniques. This project not only teaches technical skills but also encourages creative expression and individuality.
